African American women are 2-3 times more likely than other ethnic groups to suffer from symptomatic fibroids.

Starting this month in Chicago, there is a project to raise awareness among African American fibroid patients about Focused Ultrasound as a treatment option.

The initiative is being lead by two prominent and well-respected African American gynecologists, Dr. Leonard Lawson and Dr. Eric Brown.
